Confidentiality Guidelines In order to encourage candor in discussions and to encourage exploration
into various ways to resolve the situation, the CMS is committed to
keeping communications with the CMS and in the mediation process confidential.
The CMS staff will not discuss your situation with the University’s
Administration, the University’s Human Resouces staff, supervisors,
deans, or department chairs, and the CMS staff will not act as witnesses
in University grievance proceedings. However, there are exceptions
to this general guideline, which include: The CMS does provide the University with statistical information about its referrals, but does not share any individual identifying information. CMS clients also play an important role in the confidentiality of
mediation communications. Many instances of breaches of confidentiality
occur when mediation participants discuss the mediation process with
co-workers and friends. As a result, the CMS asks that mediation participants
agree, in writing, to keep the mediation proceedings confidential. Helpful UM System Policies Sexual Harassment.330.060 |
